STEM teaching & leadership for urban educators

STEM teaching & leadership for urban educators

The MSUrbanSTEM project was one of the best projects I have ever been part of.  We worked with 124 Chicago Public School STEM educators over three years, in an effort to develop their teaching and leadership in the STEM areas. We have written about this...

Tech as tool, medium & network

I just discovered (through the serendipitous connectibility of Google Alerts) about Teaching Thursdays a blog from the University of North Dakota. It is a collaborative venture between Anne Kelsh (Office of Instructional Development) and Bill Caraher (Department of...

SITE2022: San Diego

SITE2022: San Diego

I sent the past week in San Diego at the SITE 2022 conference—first face to face conference in over 2.5 years. It was great to get out meet old friends, make new ones, and just spend time together. Below are (for the record) the papers and presentations that I was...

Happy 2020 (& and new video)

Happy 2020 (& and new video)

We have been creating short videos to welcome the new year since 2008. This year was no exception. These videos, created on a shoe-string budget, are usually typographical in nature with some kind of an optical illusion or AHA! moment built in. Check out our latest...

Ganapati Festival Photographs, 2011

The Hindu god Ganesh (the elephant-headed one) is celebrated across India, and the world, around this time of the year. The Hindu community in Lansing is no exception. A couple of days ago I was asked to take pictures of a music program at the local temple. It was a...

The story of Hari & freedom of speech

Last week, Johann Hari wrote an article defending free speech for everyone. You can read the article here: Why should I respect these oppressive religions?. This article was reprinted in the Indian newspaper, The Statesman. This led to riots, death threats, and the...

Indian creative genius

A great article titled the: The Subtle Technology of Indian Artisanship: From saris to hand-painted signs, design thinking is an unacknowledged force in Indian craft by Ken Botnick & Ira Raja. I have written about ideas such as these earlier, particularly in the...

Facebook is great phenomenal on socialnetwork. But, What make me little disappointed with FB is their privacy policy. Everything that we upload there will be available for FB even we already close our account. IMO

And I just realized when I re-read this… when I said “sharing” the framework, I meant to add with a stranger (no longer) who I was sharing laptop power with. Nice to have those real human connections interspersed throughout the year.

I have an advantage over you in that Punya Mishra is not really a common name (even in India, where I come from).

…sitting in the back of a TPACK talk at NECC before Judi Harris & Mark Hofer begin… as I was sharing my level of familiarity with the framework (no expert for certain) I mentioned your name (along with Matt). So that led me to check your blog… and that led me to your Facebook post… and that led me to search for mine… and that led me to try to get “seannash”… and since I failed at that, I added *nashworld* because, as always, it WAS available… and though I can multitask like a monkey, they’re starting to talk… i’ll shut up now but thanks for the reminder… at least i scored my goofy “brand”…

    Cheers 😉
