Tech Integration Models and GenAI: Podcast Episode (Part II)

by | Sunday, October 06, 2024

Last week, I shared information about my participation in the Superspeaks | Microsoft EDU podcast on the BAM Radio Network. The discussion focused on technology integration frameworks in the context of Generative AI, featuring a panel of educational technology scholars.

Part 2 of our conversation is now available. This episode, titled “Selecting The Right Framework To Bring Gen AI Into Your Class, Course Or District,” continues the exploration of how various technology integration models can be applied to generative AI in education. In this follow-up episode, we conduct a side-by-side comparison of prominent frameworks such as SAMR, TPACK, Triple E, and emerging models like SETI and GenAI-U. The discussion centers on identifying which model is best suited for integrating generative AI into different educational contexts, from individual classrooms to entire school districts.

The panel again includes Dr. Caroline Fell Kurban, Dr. Liz Kolb, Dr. Ruben Puentedura, and Dr. Helen Crompton. The conversation was hosted by Mark Sparvell and produced by Errol St. Clair Smith,

Aside: I of course could not pass up a chance to (once again) describe ChatGPT as “a smart, drunk, sometimes biased, intern.” I should also add that some of what I spoke about (around the future of TPACK) builds on an article I had written with Melissa Warr and Rezwana Islam, titled “TPACK in the age of ChatGPT and Generative AI.”

You can listen episode 2 below. It is also available on the BAM Radio Network website and through various podcast platforms. (Episode 1 can be found here.)

The Autocomplete That Didn’t: Three More Reads on Dampuni

I recently wrote a post about my son Soham, aged two, replacing words in the Humpty Dumpty poem with a nonsense sound (“Dampuni”) and what that small act of linguistic mischief reveals about play, evolution, and how children learn. I thought I was done with it. I was...

Reflection: Welcome 2024

Since December 2008 we have been creating a video to welcome the new year. When we made our first video we had no idea that we would still be doing it 16 years later, and, frankly who knows how long we can keep it up. These videos are usually typographical in nature,...
