Walking for Learning
From Nagpur, India to Lansing, Michigan

Punya Mishra & Colleen Carmody

This a-musing is in two parts. The first part is a visual tour of a street in Nagpur, a city in India. The summer of 2001 I was in India and conduced a small, informal, unscientific study. I walked through the streets of Nagpur looking for examples of education. These examples could be hoardings, posters, signs, whatever. The first part of the a-musing is just a web page that allows you to browse through these pictures.

Back in East Lansing, I shared these pictures with friends and colleagues here. One of the groups I shared it with was my fall semester CEP 813 (Learning Technology Through Design) class. One of the students in my class, Colleen Carmody, was inspired enough to attempt a similar walk through downtown lansing and write a journal entry for the class. This is the second piece of the amusing which I am including here with her permission. Enjoy!
